About Us

Galenite is an Americanism of galena, this is the raw material from which lead is produced.

As with other natural materials we use Zinc and Copper, which are all 100% recyclable, in this day and age the use of green sustainable material is key.

Galenite Ltd was started 18 years ago by ourselves, Frank Gammon and David Wilkie, we have been work colleagues for many years previous. We were apprenticed trained after leaving school and have worked for many large and small lead roofing companies in and around London. Between us we have worked on some very prestigious buildings, The Foreign Office, Buckingham Palace, Hampton Court and Apsley House London.

We are based in Bexhill on Sea East Sussex, but work on projects from Kent across to Berkshire and up to London.

Even though we have worked on many large projects involving in some cases tons and tons of lead laid, we have equally been involved in many smaller works that could be just a chimney back gutter or a small length of step flashing. Any works large or small are treated with the same importance.

Because we work our lead in the traditional method, we like to manipulate the lead rather than the cutting and welding method, this seems to be the new way, our way of working the lead is a very old tried and trusted method as used by lead workers from yesteryear.
